His Yamaha Tyros4 keyboard provides lush accompaniment that sounds just like a full band. The tones are sampled from real instruments, not synthesized, so they sound just like the real thing. He even uses the keyboard to harmonize with himself, creating instantaneous two-, three-, or four-part harmonies on the spot.
